Van Gisbergen linked with return at Tekno Autosports

New Zealand's Shane van Gisbergen could make a swift return to V8 Supercars in 2013, having walked out of the series following the 2012 season.
Recent speculation has linked van Gisbergen with the open #91 entry at Tekno Autosports, which was occupied by Michael Patrizi in 2012, though he has since split with the Webb family-owned team.
In response to the speculation, Holden Motorsport manager Simon McNamara recently tweeted, "Be VERY handy having SVG in red!"
Van Gisbergen, who has moved back to New Zealand in the summer, will compete in New Zealand's SuperTourers series in 2013, though a possible double-duty role or endurance co-driver spot at Tekno appears to be firming.
However, it all depends on the terms of his release from Stone Brothers Racing, which could prohibit any return in 2013.
Sources had indicated that the terms of the release stopped van Gisbergen from racing with another V8 Supercars team till 2014, though that was never confirmed by the team or van Gisbergen.
Van Gisbergen signed a new multi-year contract with Stone Brothers Racing in May 2012, though the Kiwi race-winner was released at the end of the season after a mutual agreement, claiming he was leaving for personal reasons and not because of the new alliance with Erebus Motorsport to run AMG-prepared Mercedes-Benz E-Class V8 Supercars.
"I do not wish to race for another V8 Supercar team and my decision to leave the sport has in no way been caused by Ross and Jimmy's decision to switch manufacturers in 2013 or the team's partnership with Erebus Motorsport," he said at the time.
"I am leaving V8 Supercars due to personal reasons which I do not wish to discuss in the public domain. I will be moving back home to New Zealand and have no fixed plans for the future."
The possible back flip would only fuel the rumours of disharmony between van Gisbergen and Stone Brothers Racing/Erebus Motorsport, contradicting the widely-held belief that the 23-year-old needed an extended break from V8 Supercars after being burnt out, having debuted in the series at 17 years of age.
Tekno Autosports will run two Triple Eight-built VF Commodores for Jonathon Webb and the as yet unconfirmed driver in 2013, which will be the team's second season under the Holden banner and as a two-car team.
Nick Percat is also in the frame for the Tekno Autosports seat with the backing of personal sponsors Coates Hire, title sponsor of his Dunlop Series entry, and Morris Finance.
While Tekno Autosports ran without a title sponsor throughout the 2012 season and has yet to announce its sponsorship package for 2013, it's believed the team will receive added support from Holden with a stronger technical alliance with Triple Eight.
